One of the ways we can Cultivate Compassion (our theme of reflection this month) is by actively working to build community across differences. Realizing how little we know about other people is one of the critical steps in developing a spiritual practice of compassion (i.e., Karen Armstrong includes it as Step 7 in her Twelve Steps to a Compassionate Life).
Opening our hearts to others and getting to know who they really are (instead of the assumptions we make about them) takes intention and effort. It also yields enormous benefits in return.
In this 2 hour workshop, we’ll explore why making connections is such a vital spiritual practice, and we will experience some ways to discover and build on the foundation of the commonalities we already share. This workshop is being led by our Minister (Rev. Dr. Kharma Amos) and Director of Lifelong Spiritual Formation (Toben Cooney-Callnan). Coffee and snacks will be served.
